Policies

Allergies: While I offer Gluten Free and Nut Free options, please note that I do not operate a nut-free or gluten free kitchen and cannot guarantee that my products are completely free from cross-contamination.If you have a severe food allergy, I kindly advise against ordering.

No refunds: Please note, once the cakes leaves my hands, the customer assumes responsibility for any damage that may occur during transit or set-up. Upon pickup, I will provide instructions on how to handle, transport, and store your cake. Remember that cakes are delicate and mishandling them can result in cracks, smudges, melted frosting, etc.

Inspiration: Please note that any photos provided as inspiration will serve as a reference rather than an exact template. Due to natural variations in buttercream, an exact color match cannot be guaranteed. Additionally, I do not replicate cakes—whether my own or others' designs—exactly. Every cake is a unique creation, crafted with creative freedom, which means there may be slight variations in design elements to ensure the best possible result.

Pick up times: Bodega Cakes is not a store front with regular business hours. Please be on time and communicate with me if you are running late and I will do my best to accommodate. Please always let me know when you are 20-30 minutes away so I can start to pack up your order. If you are 30 minutes late or more a fee will incur. If you need to reschedule your pick up time with more notice (at least 24 hours), please email me and I will be happy to rearrange and accommodate.

Cancellation policy: Cake orders are final one week before scheduled delivery/pick up and no changes can be made (it is sometimes possible to increase cake size if my schedule allows it). Cake orders must be cancelled a week prior to pick up/delivery. Deposits are non-refundable.

Frosting colors: Saturated frosting (Black and any dark/deep colored cakes) may leave a temporary residue on mouths.

Do you deliver?

For standard cakes, I use Uber package delivery and have never had any issues. I will text you the day of your order with delivery details and tracking. You must be available to meet your Uber Package delivery driver curbside.

For larger tiered and/or wedding cakes, I will personally deliver the cake to you.

Once the cake is out of my possession, I am not responsible for any mishandling or unsound outcome.

When are your pick up times?

My pick up windows vary on the day. If you have a specific time frame you need to pick up by, let me know when submitting your order form. Generally, I am am available weekdays 8am-4pm and weekends 8am-1pm but often have flexibility on certain days.

How far in advance do I need to place my order?

For standard sized cakes, I open up my orders the month prior (i.e. February orders open in mid/end of January). I always post to my stories when my books open up. For larger tiered cakes, i accept orders in further in advance.

Can I place a rush /squeeze in order?

Orders made with a 10-day notice (and/or cakes squeezed in once my orders are closed) will incur a rush fee of $30-$100, depending on availability as it requires source ingredients at a higher price and/or additional overtime hours.

I haven’t heard back after submitting my order. What should I do?

Please allow 2-3 days for a reply. If you have not heard back, feel free to reach out via Instagram DMs.

What should I do when I receive my invoice?

Please respond with confirmation and your full deposit within 24 hours. If I don’t receive confirmation and payment by then, I will assume your order is cancelled (that being said, please let me know if you would like to cancel regardless).

I’m not used to spending this much on a cake! Why are your cakes priced this way?

The uniquely customized detail and intensive work that goes into my intricate style is fairly factored into each quote. I also use organic ingredients with a focus on locally sourced materials. Purchasing a Bodega cake is an investment in the same way that purchasing an artwork is. Final prices are determined by: cost of ingredients, size, and hours of labor. Hours will vary depending on scale and intricacy of each order; creating the finished product can take hours to multiple days. Starting prices for each cake size can be found in my menu.

Where and how do I pick up my cake?

Pickup is in Bedstuy, close to the C, J and L Train. Once payment is made, I will share the pickup address with you. All cakes are securely packed in a box.

Do you offer gluten-free options?

Yes, gluten-free options are available upon request for an additional fee. Please reach out with any questions or concerns regarding food allergies.

What type of buttercream do you use?

The exterior of all of my vintage style cakes are done with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream, interior buttercreams are done with the flavor of your choosing!

How should I store my cake before serving?

If the cake will not be consumed within 3 hours of pickup, store it in the refrigerator. Remove the cake from the fridge approximately 2-3 hour before serving to bring it to room temperature. During summer months, time to room temp may be shorter to ensure the cake remains stable.
